And only once. While Listowners can theoretically kick people, in practice they need a list consensus for it. And as we have seen with Mark, that is almost impossible. As I said on the Culture list about a month ago: "Really, if you want to use Brin-L as an example for anything, it is to show that democracy is highly inefficient when it comes to making decisions." >In practice, if Jeroen kicks Erik based just on what we've seen on-list >so far, I'll counter it. And Jeroen is a lot fonder of talking about >kicking people than I like, personally. That is because my sense of "right and wrong" is far more developed than it is in most people. I have been in way too many victim situations where people tried to pressure me into shutting up. Too many to let injustice go unchallenged. So, why do I sometimes talk about kicking people? Not because I am "fond of talking about kicking people", but because I see someone doing something very wrong and want to remind them of the possible consequences of their actions. >(And I think that the baiting would be reduced if Jeroen stopped making >such a big deal over it. Yeah, heaven forbid that someone be held responsible for what he writes... :-( Since nobody answered the question before, I will ask the (more or less same) question again. Do we want Brin-L to be a place where people are held accountable for what they say, or are we going to allow this list to become a safe haven for ranters, flamers and other scum? Silence will be considered support for the latter. >I think that everyone is either sick of it Well, I am sick of the current "blame the victim" attitude on this list. But nobody seems to care about *that*. >or enjoying some amusement at Jeroen's expense, I am sure Erik is thoroughly amused. And quite happy that everyone focuses on blaming the victim, rather than focusing on demanding that he backs his claims and answers questions. >and that the only practical thing Jeroen can do about it is to just >refuse to respond to Erik's posts for a couple of days.) I would be more than happy to ignore Erik -- as soon as he delivers the proof and answers. I STILL WANT THE EVIDENCE FOR ERIK'S CLAIMS, AND I STILL WANT ANSWERS.
