No kids, but I have friends and relatives that do. He likes to get up close and check them out, then he loves to run and play with them. He's gentle as can be, he waits patiently for food, won't snatch it out of your hand, etc.
As far as training goes, they're stubborn in that you might have to repeat the command a couple times, but he'll do anything for you, especially if there's a treat involved. We haven't formally trained him, so I'm usually the one who holds the leash when we are outside, because if he does want to hunker down...he will. I hear the mastiffs are great around kids.. As are bulldogs. Seems like bulldogs and mastiffs share a lot of similar qualities and traits. My fiance likes the bulldogs more from a "handling" perspective (she is about 110 pounds soaking wet) and worries she won't be able to control the bigger dogs. My take is that it is all in the training and obedience classes. Easy for me to say at 240 lbs I guess. We are currently looking for some breeders in the MD area, but will probably have to drive a ways to find some puppies to look at and talk with their owners, etc... Michael T.
