Subject: RE: How long?

Bullshit. Islam has nothing to do with Sept 11. And Islam as a religion
has
been far more tolerant of "those of the book" than any other religion.
For
instance compare the behavior of the Christians when they conquored the
holy
lands in the middle ages compared to the Arab Califate conquest of the
700's
and the Sejuk Turk conquest of the 1200 and the Ottoman Turk conquest of
the
1300's. The Islamic people did not engage in mass slaughter like the
Crusaders.

I didn't say Islam (as a religion) had anything to do with this. I said
it was an intolerant religion, and it is. Everyone tries to portray
Islam in a way that it is not. It is not nice and forgiving. It's not
about accepting others who believe differently. Do the words of the
Christian bible call for the death of an individual who would try to
convert a follower away?

A couple years ago, there was a nut in Arkansas or such that put forth
a state bill called, "Smoke a joint, lose a limb". Would you support
maiming as punishment for crimes in the US? Islam does.

And I will, in no way, make any excuses for the actions of the Catholic
church in regards to the Crusades.

As for this country being Christian, that is pure and utter crap. Look
up
the term Deist on the web. Most of the signers of the constitution
followed
that philosophy. Look at the writings of Thomas Jefferson or John Adams
on
the separation of church and state. Read the Constitution itself. It
states
quite plainly that there will be no established religion.

And there is no establishment of a state religion. But when the framers
wrote the Declaration of Independence and the Consitution, they sure did
write a lot about God.

Dresden was a major transit point btw. Hamburg, where there was another
firestorm, was a major manufacturing center. There were reasons. They
did
not know about the weather conditions for a firestorm. In both cases
they
were expecting a standard bombing run.

There was no need to bomb Dresden at all. None. My opinion. Do I have a
problem that it was done? No. It was "Total War".

Wrong "Bomber" Harris was not shunned after WWII. For one thing he was
knighted. For another he also served on the NorthWest Frontier in what
is
now Pakistan. I would not be too surprised if he would have followed the
same tactics we are following now.

He was Knighted by the king. He was shunned by the people. Any British
perspective on Mr. Harris?

This has been a rather envigorating chat today, but I must be off. Have
a good weekend.
