Gosh Beth, I totally missed all of that. Thank you for making it all so crystal clear. So like, if we go there and kill everyone then there will never be anymore terrorists in the world, ever again? Right? No little future terrorist leader waiting in the wings for the next act? I was not sexist at all. The men in Afghanistan run the show. If you kill their women and children, whether innocent or not, men that might not have supported the Taliban before may change allegiances. From your perspective, it may have sounded sexist. Granted, if someone killed my brother, I would be pissed. So, maybe innocents will be my new term. For brevity. But then, you are a woman in a country in which you have a chance at an education and semi-equal rights with men. > > because if we kill "these people" (along with the unfortunate > civilians, men including, because there are plenty of > non-terroristic men in > afghanistan - just had to point out how sexist your statement was ;-) ) > they go away. You understand that right? If we accidentally > take out some "...take out some innocents"? Like, take the out to Wendy's? Is that a euphemism for kill innocent people, like the people in the World Trade Center and Pentagon? In essence, you are saying that it is okay to kill HOWEVER many innocent people it takes to get to this small group of terrorists that have networks all over the globe, the leadership of which is sketchy. Man, well, this is so easy. How did I not see this? Killing innocents (much less sexist, don't you think), and people in general is part of what has caused festering hatreds among the peoples of this region (Yugoslavia to India) for thousands of years. Religion, and the various ethnic groups play a large part in this as well. Now we will just be added to there list too. We are just an extension of Western Europe, a symbol of success where we beat them a thousand years ago. Do not be surprised if these people hit targets in other parts of the world, we are just the first. History, the past, is so important. Sadly we do not do much of job at explaining or teaching it, so we are doomed to repeat it. > innocents, its a pity for sure, but it doesnt' mean we dont' complete our > objective. The two are not mutually exclusive - if we kill some civilians > it doesnt' mean we dont' get rid of terrorists. If we are naive enough to believe these guys won't fade into the night and reappear ten years from now, then may some eternal benevolent being help us. > ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Your ad could be here.
