They call it a brick cause that's what your legs feel like when you go from
one activity to the next - a couple of bricks. (Actually, I think they might
more accurately feel like jelly. But, whatever.)

I spent most of last year recovering from IT band syndrome. Or should I say,
recovering from treatment for IT band syndrome. Your IT band runs along the
outside of your upper leg, from your pelvic bone to just below your knee.
When it gets too tight, it rubs against the bursa on the outside of your hip
bone. For me, that resulted in bursistis. The orthopedist decided that I
needed a shot of cortisone, which made everything way worse for me, and
resulted in doing lots of physical therapy.

I've also had runner's knee, which is when you knee cap starts popping out
of the groove it's supposed to go in.

In high school, I developed a problem with the tendons and ligaments in my
ankles. The tendon would snap out of alignment and I'd fall to the ground.
It'd snap back in and after my head quit spinning, I'd be fine, but sore.
The doc told me then that if I kept running sprints I could tear the tendon
and permanently mess myself up.

(I have an issue where my connective tissue gets "looser" than normal, so
I'm really prone to these kinds of injuries.)
