Remember also that both cause AND effect is in flux.

There will, I'm sure, someday be a concept of a "textbook homosexual" - the
general norm, the scientific average. I feel the evidence is piling up for
this "normal homosexual" to be explainable via genetics.

However at the same time there will always be special cases, anecdotal
evidence and oddities that muddy the debate. There are definitely
psychological issues which can cause homosexual behavior. There are
self-esteem issues which can cause the behavior. There will, as long as
there is any stigma to it whatsoever, be cases of those claiming to be
"cured" of it.

Essentially it's not completely a "nature vrs nurture" question since there
are clearly cases of both. It's really not very different from the possible
genetic markers for alcoholism or violence or empathy or anything else. You
can be born that way or end up that way.

The real trick is understanding when any particular homosexual is normal and
another isn't (in other words a "sick" heterosexual). Of course the reverse
is true as well: many natural homosexuals attempt to force themselves
straight.
