>Church is a place for children to practice religion. Home is another.
>Public School is not.

They were not practicing religion, they were just being kids in high school.

>If they want to make a school sanctioned club, they would need a faculty
>advisor of some sort, yes.

It was not school sanctioned.

>No.
>
>If the students wanted a satan worshipping club the school should allow it?

Sure, but you would have to find a teacher willing to stay after school
with the kids.

>The place for a religious club is at your church, not your public school.

The kids didn't go to the same church.

>If the school allows clubs of any sort - then they must allow all clubs that
>aren't illegal. this means that a neonazi club would be okay with the
>school. And they would have to provide a teacher to supervise it.

That would be fine, the school did not provide the teacher, the students
went around asking a teacher if they would vouch for them. So if the
students could find a teacher then sure.

>A religious group of kids are welcome to form - the issue is the school
>providing school space and school resources for that club - this is
>inappropriate and unconstitutional.

The kids were not from the same church or the same denomination, they had
three things in common, they went to that school, they were athletes, and
they were Christian. The constitution does not say anything about the
separation of church and state except that Congress will not pass a law
preventing you to worship. Later they also say there can be no
discrimination based on religion. No where does it say that publicly owned
buildings cannot be a meeting place for like minding people.

>I totally disagree. My tax dollars better not go towards paying a teacher
>to supervise a religious group.

The teacher was not being paid extra to be there, the teacher was going to
make the same amount of money. The teacher would only be there to make sure
the kids didn't kill each other, and to make sure the school didn't get sued.

Realize what your saying, you are saying that the city has built a building
that is only being used at most 8 hours a day to teach students, why not
let the students meet at the school, it keeps them off the streets, of
drugs, and alive. Parents can be sure if the child is at school they are
probably safe.

It is not just your tax dollars, it is the entire counties tax dollars,
they should have equal use of a large, safe, public building.
