Here's the core of our disagreement: I agree with what you said above,
but I don't think the government should be involved. I want as little
government as possible in our lives if only from a cost perspective:
that mandate will and millions onto our taxes.

Let's take the smoking bans. I agree that restaurants are very nice
being smoke free, but I don't think the government should mandate it.
Restaurants should choose and consumers should choose.

In the same way, Universities should be free to create whatever
educational value proposition they like and consumers should be free
to choose. Discriminating between public and private is irrelevant to
me and should be to the consumer. The question is, where I can I get
the best education for the dollar based on my wants and needs? Let
the free market determine the mix. Why go commie with it?

E.g., Berkeley, U of Michigan, toss in U of MN Law school. These are
public schools but considered to be some of the best schools in the
country without regard to their funding. Now let's say the government
steps in and starts messing with their value proposition. Do you that
increases it or decreases it?

Keep the government out of my business and out of yours. Trust me,
you'll be a much happier in a free market than going commie.
