"The market is the policing mechanism."

Ahhh. This would be nice if it were true. There are plenty of people
who attend school for a certain program, but have to put up with
tenured professors who indoctrinate rather than teach. It is not a
true free market.

"That's the exact position you advocate. "

Nice straw man though the statement is wrong. Apparently you did not
read my response. Here. Let me give it to you again.

"Ideally, the university would police itself. If students
complain that a prof isn't teaching, the university should
investigate. If true, then they should urge him or her too. If
complaints continue, they should take harsher actions. If they do not
take action, then it would be the job of State to hold someone in the
administration accountable."

Now, let's look at your theoretical class.

"A moderated but contentious debate surrounding modern American
politics and the most current political topics. The instructor will
present one side of American politics and the students will asked to
present the other. Grade will be determined by the quality of the
student's arguments based on history, philosophy, and clarity."

Some key words you mentioned are DEBATE and PRESENT. You have missed
my point completely because I am saying there are some professors who
would not allow debate or the presentation of the arguments, but they
would give their one side of the argument.

As far as your hate speech theory goes. Sure. Whatever. That
professor is still teaching. The school president didn't agree with
her, but said he agrees with her right to say. Plus, if someone is
smart enough to get a PhD then I believe they would be smart enough
word their rants in a manner that would keep them from jail. Even
David Duke can do this and he isn't a doctor.
