It totally depends on the type of competition. AKC has 3 different types of stock trials and then you have other clubs like ASCA that put on theirs as well. I'm not sure many people do herding with Pyrs though. Livestock breeds usually don't have quite the speed and agility and prey drive needed for herding. In fact, they were specifically bred *not* for prey drive, since the last thing you want is a dog that will chase the flock around. ;-) There are instinct tests from time to time that you can take your dog to just to see if he's got any instinct to work (it may take several exposures to stock for some dogs), those are typically done by breed clubs. Not sure of a good one-stop source for herding on the web, you can google it and see if there are any clubs or trainers in your area. --- Mary Jo ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Get involved in the latest ColdFusion discussions, product development sharing, and articles on the Adobe Labs wiki. http://labs/adobe.com/wiki/index.php/ColdFusion_8 Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/message.cfm/messageid:244130 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5
