You know, I'm wondering why an enterprising group of attorneys has not
brought a class action suit against the official body (bodies?) that
recommend(s) service at such coffee temperatures without following that up
with any safety recommendations whatsoever.

I mean, look at the established history of cases where the defendants
repeatedly cited this (these?) bodies' recommendations for service. And
these are bodies for which professional fees are paid in order to render
advice.

"You mean, Mr. Smith, that your primary focus -- in fact, your *only* focus,
according to your testimony -- was the quality of the coffee being served?
No consideration whatsoever for the hapless human being on the other end of
your selfish and self-centered equation? Even after every credible medical
expert in countless cases where defendants -- your paying members -- lost
those cases with considerable money damages awarded to their victims? A cup
of liquid that cost less than a nickel to manufacture is worth more to you
than a 79-year-old woman? A 79-year-old woman who has been drinking coffee
for almost 65 of those years? A 79-year-old woman who, without injury,
drank plenty of coffee to help keep her awake so she could rivet just one
more airplane fuselage in a World War II aircraft factory before she passed
out from exhaustion? A 79-year-old woman who not once -- not once! -- had
the kind of mishap with coffee made at home or at any of the mom-and-pop
restaurants that *aren't* your paying members, who know that it's better to
have *good* coffee that satisfies than it is to have *great* coffee that
maims?"

My sack is tingling just thinking about it! :)
