If the in-house meeting was just between you three, then I don't really see anything wrong with it. If it involved members from other business units or any managers/supervisors, then I would consider it to be in poor taste. I work for a company that has only 25-30 employees, a foosball table, a dart board, and casual Fridays and I would never go to a meeting with someone outside of our 3 pax development team eating any type of food or even chewing gum, especially one where you expel contents from your mouth. That is rather gross. While social norms have changed considerably, I still think a lot of people consider that sort of behavior rude.
It sounds to me though, that the problem is not the sunflower seeds, but something else. It sounds like you guys have some personality conflicts that is the root of the problem. We work in a strange world. In general, us IT types are not "bottom line thinkers." We would rather spend a little more money and do it right. We are surrounded by business types who think only about the how many numbers are after the dollar sign and are willing to sacrifice, what they perceive to be negligible, quality for the buck. Both have their place but they are inherently opposite to one another. They don't understand us and we don't understand them and that causes conflict. It sounds like you are more of the IT type and your co-worker is more the business type. You should try to find a common ground and learn to deal with each other. It takes time and effort on both sides to come to an understanding of one another but it makes the team stronger and better. Of course I could be way off base which would make me full of shit, but that's what you get when you ask us questions like that ;-) Hope you can work it out! I had another developer same level as me who has been with the company 2 weeks longer then I tell me it was rude to take sunflower seeds to a meeting we had in house. My question is... 1. Was I being rude? 2. Was I being Disgusting? This type of conflict with this person has happened before but with other issues. I feel I am a Web Developer and a Web Designer. He thinks I am only a Web Developer and the three of us in our team are NOT capible of doing the DESIGN work. The other developer and I think I am capible to do the DESIGN work. These issues really bother me. I do not have these problems with ANYONE else. Should I let this bother me and should I do anything about it? Thanks, CFUser - working toward being the best I can. ______________________________________________________________________ Signup for the Fusion Authority news alert and keep up with the latest news in ColdFusion and related topics. http://www.fusionauthority.com/signup.cfm Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/index.cfm?sidebar=lists
