I've not read any details about it, so please feel free to correct me if i'm
wrong :)

wouldn't it create new jobs in the way of counselors (assuming that's one of
the routes they go)? could they make drugs like chantix more readily
available to people (a months' supply of chantix is currently about $130)?
increased demand there would mean more jobs at pharmaceutical companies.
the short of it is... i think it could create jobs.

If the smoking cessation programs put new people to work (rather than just

even assuming it's a single advertising company... in theory, wouldn't the
additional revenue for that company trickle down to its employees? won't
they go out and buy stuff or spend money on services?

I don't think the smoking cessation initiative would necessarily be limited
in benefit to rich folks paying off their boats. I guess I'd need to read
the details and execution plan before I could really speak intelligently
about it tho. I just hate to let things like that stop me :)
