The easiest way to defeat an enemy is to cut off their supply lines.
If our supply lines extend across the ocean because we burned up all
of our own oil then we've put ourselves into a very vulnerable
position.  For no good reason.

Burning our own oil isn't thinking with your gun hand.

If oil is a losing game then let's not play it.  We should create a
new energy industry and burn foreign oil until we're totally
self-sufficient.

Shooting ourselves in the foot is not a good defense strategy.
