Ah, I see your problem. You assume that the Taliban runs the tribes. You assume that the Taliban is made up of the tribes. You assume that they are a 'conservative faction' of the tribes. You assume I'm saying that there are no moderate PEOPLE from Afghanistan. Sorry to say but your wrong. The Taliban is a movement, not a tribe. They are comprised of people with an ideal which, by definition, is not moderate. They enforce their rules over the tribes with a sword, not as a tribal leader. A case can even be made that the leadership of the Taliban have no position of leadership in Afgani tribes at all. Why listen to me, just look it up.

Um, I also never said that the Taliban in Swat Valley were moderates or even close to moderates. Quite the opposite, they are the same extremist Taliban that they have always been. The only difference is that Pakistan give into them and basically let them run ramped at the expense of the people (or tribes if you want to use that term) of the Swat Valley. This is exactly what can be expected from the Taliban when we give into them. I never said that you were against Muslims nor did I say that you were > against Afghanistan. We've been making headway to a degree but if we give into the Taliban then we'll have destroyed all of that common ground we've been building. I'm going to bookmark this post so I can come back to it again and again when I need to laugh. I'm prejudice against the Taliban. I love it. Too bad they are not a separate race because then I can be a racist as well. :) None the less, your charge that "there are no moderate elements" is > dishonest and prejudicial and hurts the cause of trying to find common > ground in the region and bring substantial lasting change.
