Immigration for people already in the US and overstaying VISAs is not what
the post was about actually.
You really should look at the comments on the slashdot.org site to see which
policies the IOC had a problem with.

We're not talking about visiting athletes, we are talking about Visitors,
tourists, the everyman from Pakistan, from Egypt, from Saudi Arabia, from the
UK, coming to see the olympics.

It would be the first time you have hosted the Olympics after the draconian
Patriot Act and all the new immigration policies.

Can you imagine...even comprehend the logistics of fingerprinting every
passenger for an event like the olympics?
Would these policies be magically suspended during a period when you have
the largest influx of persons in decades into the US?
Can you imagine with that volume of people how many false positives would
pop up on the Don't Fly List alone?

Really...check that slashdot link and read the comments.
