And this is the problem. It's not so black and white. Yes, we have a separation of church and state - but we still have laws that come from society's beliefs about what is right and wrong. You cannot deny that many of those beliefs come from religious beliefs as well. We can't simply say 'keep religion out of it' because many people's entire view of whats right and wrong comes from religion.
