Hm...how do I picture life in Atlanta...well, I've only been there once, and
it seemed like a typical urban environment. I was in a rather expensive
neighborhood for a training. There was a lot of valet parking, etc. In
Wisconsin, valet parking is practically unheard of. So, right there, I saw a
bit of a cultural divide.

But, to be honest, I wasn't really thinking "Atlanta" when I said "south." I
was thinking of an email friend of mine who lives in Alabama, who has
regaled me with stories of how things are still rather formal and
chivalrous.

It's not a slight against southerners. If anything, it's probably a slight
against northerners. I think we're all a bit jaded. We don't expect
chivalry, and we don't get it. (I think this is a safe generalization for at
least all the women that I know, though I'm sure it's not a safe
generalization for all northern women.) We distrust someone that comes on
too strong, too formal, or too smarmy. The preferred term is "creepy."
