So why would he throw out his education (in an related field). This is
Outlook Express; accounts are created using a wizard that is pretty strait
forward. I even walked him thorough it on the phone. What kind of degree
does it take to configure outlook with step by step instructions?

I have been more than patient with this user and he throws his education in
my face. Did he take reading comprehension? I know what the problem is, he's
not reading, he skims over the emails and miss's something then blames my
services. It's just like directions on a website. no matter how clear you
are somebody will still do it wrong.

As for the seven years Exp vs. a 7 year degree I was applying that towered
the same fields. Some of those people I worked with in IT (Sprint) had
masters degree's in Computer Science and needed help from the technicians to
configure there systems. The Technicians had trade school educations and
experience. Now I use very little of the education I got from my trade
school everything I know has all been from trial and error or shadowing the
desktop techs and listening to the people that have been there done that. I
still do this.

Well, I would suggest that not everybody has the same kinds of intelligence.

I don't do artsy things but I can program.
I am working on an MBA but would never work on an English BA
I hated Chemistry in college but loved Physics
Not to say that I can't do these things, but they are outside my realm of
interest and therefore I don't like to.

And he's got an Education Doctorate.  That's a clear clue that he's not
technical in the least.

Some people can do some things, some people can do another.

He's right, he may come off stupid, but he doesn't want you to think that
he's stupid.
Besides, how many times have you had problems with an application that you
didn't completely understand but felt shold have been easy?  ColdFusion MX
come to mind anybody?  Windows?

So I am sending email back and forth with a client. In the last email
correspondent with him I stated for the 3rd time the correct email
settings
for Outlook Express. I have been very polite and patient but he replies
back
  with this.

"In spite of the fact that some of the emails may cause you to think
otherwise, I am not stupid. I have two undergraduate degrees, a master's
degree, an Ed.D, and 12 months of post-doctoral study, but I'm still
having
problems with things I didn't even do."

Shouldn't he be able to figure it out him self?

My reply is "Wow, I only have an AOS in Microprocessors and
  Telecommunications"

So I think about a 7 year degree and my 7+ years experience, all the
people
I have worked with that made more money and higher position than I did but
couldn't configure their computer applications. I also think about how
much
I have "matured" (I have a little, I wipe the seat if I sprinkle) over the
  last 7 years.

  I came up with

Masters Degree is to 7 years Experience as 7 years older is to 7 years
  smarter.
