If so... There is a fundamental error. Debian Unstable is _never_
about being up to date, it is about packaging long-term solid
software. Debian unstable and testing are _never_ meant for users at
large, if we tell our users "use unstable" it is similar to saying
"use software that might be very well broken", or "use Ubuntu" ;-)

Debian Unstable is a staging area to prepare the best version we can
we are willing to support for ~24-36 months. Nothing else.

In fact... Well, the next thing under my radar to change (for which I
have a Release Critical bug open) is to fix the configuration
munging/handling during package updates. We should _never_ require the
user to back up their configuration before upgrading - as breaking a
configuration is something plain unacceptable.
