Even after all I have said in this regard,

Complete, full ACK to Alejandro. Cherokee is one of the most
user-supportive groups I have seen. I do have my share of issues with
the pace of development - Although I understand the motivation not to
hang to users running ages-long versions, the community is very, VERY
helpful and willing to do all kinds of efforts to help a user needing
help.

Now, this clashes with the needs of users like Ray: Most users are not
willing to learn the details of every piece of software they run, and
do not need to run the latest and shiniest release. Most users want
something stable, something they can hang on and know they will not be
surprised for a long period. This is why we (distribution maintainers)
don't like the idea in general of having so many "golden" releases:
Imagine Debian freezes (it probably won't, as there are many unsolved
aspects yet) in December, as somebody proposed. I cannot with a
straight face ask my users to stick to 0.99.27 for the following
(probably 24 months) release cycle, can I?

In this case, I must say it was Ray who didn't want to go the extra
mile: Ray, you were requested access to a machine (or VM image) to
test the code on. What better community help than the one who helps to
fix your problem _on_your_machine_ for free!? Of course, this also
requires some effort (and trust) from your side.

If that's not enough for you... Well, I'm sure Octality will be more
than willing to get your contract, and fly Álvaro personally, equipped
with a very-business-minded suit and tie, to spread magic powder over
your data center and fix everything. Even clean the dust that might be
piling under the racks.
