Hey Craig - I'd consider comparing your friends chevelle to others that are out there. The question I have is who is this deal good for? Check out how much it would cost to replace the hood and interior components, along with a motor & trans (any where from $2000 -7500 depending on the size, type, reseller, 4, 5, or 6 speed, etc). and add that to the initial cost. You could easily end up in the $15,000 range for cash layed out. My opinion,  here is this, if you are going to do the work yourself, you can save some $ and get eactly the interior and drive line you want (ie 502 bigblock with a 6 speed trans). If not and you really want a 68 SS, consider the overall cost (parts and labor) as well as the overall resale.
