I don't believe it is possible to teach some adults an ethical model so
he/she can cognitively understand it. There is just too wide a difference
in ways to process information. Some people process SO focused they simply
cannot see the whole picture--no matter how you try to teach them. Others
process so globally they simply cannot see the small parts--no matter how
you try to teach them. You can teach them a *rule*, and they will follow
it, but in no way can they comprehend the real reason they should follow it
no matter how you teach them. The moment one tiny piece of the picture
changes those people cannot readjust and figure out if the whole thing is
still *right* or *wrong*. I have years of experience with two people who
are like this. And have met MANY with other strange ways of processing
information. I believe that every personality trait or ability runs the
entire spectrum when you are looking at a large population. Processing
information well enough
to be able to use it to one's benefit may be much like every other
trait (psychological or not)--only those in the middle 80% (or less) of the
spectrum may be capable
of it but there is probably another 10% (or more) at either end of the
spectrum that would process so differently, they would not be able to use
this information to their benefit--in other words, they cannot be educated.
(Please note I am not saying these people are less equal than others, in
every instance I have found these same people to be VERY gifted in another
trait. Hence I believe we are all created equal--just not equal in every
trait!)

This is something that would work for the majority of people who process the
way the average human processes and is one of the things I mentioned in my
first post. It is too bad there isn't a *geared-down* class regarding
society, different cultures, right and wrong and such in the very young
grades (our school system does do this but only in Jr. and Sr. High
school--when I think it is too late)--a class where every young child would
experience some discussion, in conjunction with this class, on how to
research and buy things--including how to choose properly so their choices
are most cost effective and kind to our world. Pet choosing could easily
become a part of this.

If only . . .
