Laura...may I clarify this further regarding education...
In education..the affective domain is the most difficult item to impact on.
You can teach an ethical model so an adult can cognitively understand it but
will they embrace it??? Very questionable with the adult learner...if their
affective domain is low!!!
If education has failed...we must look at ...
Are we addressing the wrong target audience??? The affective domain (our
feelings and what we embrace as MORTAL values) are usually formed before age
12..."The sins of the father will follow the generations..."
Are we using the incorrect educational methods...adult are turned off by
lecturing or "shaming"...you lose them within 5 minutes if it is an
affective area that is foreign to their make up...They will apear to listen
are they really listening???
Promotion for change is a complex issue...
We must teach the principle instead of the rule...I hear a lot of rules.
And" rules are meant to be broken" but principles will stand if embraced!
So I stress the pinciples!!!
On another note...
I think policing is an interesting concept...who do I respect and believe in
to carry the "guns"...
Take care,
