Wouldn't that set the clock back in time so you can say that you knew he

The dog was 2000 miles away from me, so no, I could not test him myself. I
offered to pay for the OFA evaluation but was told no. I was told (as is
commonly heard) that his hips were xrayed at 2 years of age and found to be
fine--this was the reason why the owner refused to have him OFAd. Of course
xrays were not available for me to see. That is why it took two years for
me to decide to breed to him--I was just plain scared. But I know it is
quite unusual to have a dog (male) color doppler clear at over 6 years of
age, and he continued to auscultate clear so after agonizing over it, I
decided to take a big chance. It may have been that this was 6 months after
my son was diagnosed with leukemia--at the time I might have felt it wasn't
as much a risk as compared to what our family had just been through.
Whatever the reason, it was much too stressful for me to manage.

So far as now--remember the dog was much older when I bred to him, the
offspring are almost 4. The dog recently passed away so it is no longer a
possibility.
