Myra As far as I am concerned, the stud fee is for a service.If your dog at stud is healthy, fertile and able to do the job, that is what is being paid for. The service(s). If there are no puppies, you are entitled to a free return... provided the stud is healthy, fertile and able, unless otherwise agreed at time of mating. Some people add on a nominal fee as an extra if the bitch returns to the same dog(you still have the same hassles!!)like a handling fee. Some stud owners here wait for their stud fee until the bitch is confirmed pregnant at 28 days. It is all a matter of agreement and choice.
