Exactly. Most stud dog owners I know take half of the total stud fee as a deposit for the services provided which may include but are not limited to, picking up the bitch at the airport, boarding her for up to 14 days, taking her to the vet for smears, LH and progesterone tests, collecting and performiong AI's, shipping her back home etc. If there is an insufficient amount of live pups at 2 weeks (3 is standard in Goldens) then a repeat service is offered for the remainder of the stud fee. If the bitch owner chooses not to do a repeat service nothing further is owed from either party.
