One of my friends had a puppy who was a swimmer. Typical in a
litter of two.
I have to totally disagree with this very false statement. Even though
the subject says "vets" I have had more litters of 1 or 2 than I care to
remember and have never had a swimmer. The current litter I have of 5 had
my first swimmer in it. I think it is very off putting, especially for
those that are either new or contemplating having their first litter to be
fearful that a swimmer is going to appear in their litter if it is small.
In fact all the swimmers that I have heard about are from litters that have
more than 2 pups in it.
But the part I will agree with is that most vets DO NOT know all they
should about this condition, and I turned to other breeders in fact ones on
this list for guidance. I never even picked up the phone to question my
vet. This puppy was hobbled and I would say in less than 48 hours she was
absolutely normal.
