I have been following this thread and finally must comment. Since everyone has a different idea, here is the truth.
Two years ago we had this same flooring issue being discussed and most said "get Pergo or Wilsonart" It fantastic, clean, does not scratch and looks like real wood. So I listened to the listers. I decided to do one of my guest areas two rooms, which is about 20 x 30 in Wilsonart, so if I did not like it, I did not have to live with it. It does look like wood, it does not show scratches, and looks great as long as the dogs stay off it, which defeats the purpose!! It is noisy when the dogs walk on it, even if they had no nails, you hear clicking and noise. It shows every mark and hair. I am so glad I rarely have to see it and I rarely let the dogs in that area now. For noise control I had to put throw rugs down. What a waste of money. Those are my feelings about Wilsonart and Pergo. Tile and/or a good linoleum are best, with REAL wood following right behind these two. I have one giant room done in marble and it's super, but most people would not want marble. Carpeted areas that the dogs are allowed on should be replaced every 1-2 years. Just my opinion.
