I went to *many* stores as well as asking people and doing research internet.
Everyone says that it does scratch, but not as bad as hardwood. The
Wilsonart (and most of the others) have a 15, 20 or 25 year warranty against
wear, stain, fade and water damage. I do think it's important to go to a
store that stands behind this as well, though, as I have heard it is very
difficult to get the companies to stand by their warranties. Many of the
stores told me that the manufacturer will always have a reason that you were
at fault and not them. Also, for the warranty to be good (in the
manufacturer's warranties that I read), a professional installer approved by
the company, has to do the installation.

I also spoke with several people who have kids and dogs, and had the laminate
for quite a few years and were very happy with it. A friend has the original
Pergo (which is much improved now) and loves it. My sister has nice quality
hardwood floors and has lots of scratches. One thing that I was told,
though, was that even though they are warrantied for use in bathrooms now,
that there are still problems with it in the bathroom, no matter how they are
put down and sealed (caulked around edges, etc.). I ended up going with a
faux tile vinyl for the bathrooms.

I still think there is nothing as pretty as "real" hardwood floors, but it
just isn't practical sometimes. At least, that's how I felt about it for me.
