My first house was all hardwood floors, many years ago, and all I wanted to
do was cover them with wall to wall carpeting, because they were so hard to
keep up with kids and one dog (golden retriever). They seem more practical
now, and my one daughter, after living with inlaid in her kitchen for two
years, went to the expense of having white washed oak floors installed and
loves it.
My daughter-in-law and son, built a new house about 1.5 ago, and had oak
floors installed in the kitchen, hallways, and foyer and seem happy with it.
But all of these people have no pets and are very, very clean and neat.
(Lord only wonders they think I'm crazy)
I would not recommend hardwood floors for any of us on this list.
