Some dogs bark simply because they can. My dogs are not bored and definitely
do not lack for attention. I have a tri boy that barks continuously when
he's outside. If it moves, he barks at it. If it makes a sound, he barks at
it. Let a squirrel run up a tree within his sight, and he will bark non-stop
at the tree for hours if I would let him. Let an airplane fly over and he
barks until the plane is gone.

Yes, some dogs bark for attention. But many dogs just plan like to hear the
sound of their own voices and it can become a major problem.

I am not a big fan of debarking as a first resort. But as a last resort,
rather than having the dog euthanized, it can be a viable option.
