I cannot believe that people would seriously consider 'debarking' a dog! It is barbaric. The practice has absolutely no value to the dog, and is making surgical alterations purely for the convenience of their owners.
We have many dogs and some bark more than others. We made sure to live in an area where this would not cause offence, although all of them will stop if told to do so. Debarking is not a last resort, rehoming the dog is, if the owner is incapable of training it. When someone takes on a pet, it is their duty to put it's welfare first. Debarking is not even on the list of acceptable activities to promote a dog's quality of life.
