Hi Alida and all, Have you thought of or tried using a nailgrinder instead of nail scissors? Once they get used to the vibration they seem to relax better for their nail trimming. The dew claw is still a little tricky and, like Alida, it takes me more time keeping the feathering out of the way then it does to do the deed. I have used the cordless 2 speed Dremel MiniMate for several years now and even young puppies get used to it very early on.
I know someone at some time on one of these lists said they put the dog's paw into a nylon stocking to hold the hair back, while the nails poked through and were easy to trim. I think I'll try that this week when I do their nails.
