The thing is that I know adults who think this is the way it works
too. They aren't bad people, they just don't understand why you have
to wait for a year or two to get a nice dog from a good breeder.

Would you feel comfortable emailing her back and gently educating
her? Maybe you could equate it to Christmas or a birthday or even
the birth of a baby brother or sister, and how you have to wait for
the good things. (I don't know how old she is, so maybe I'm over
simplifying.)

It seems to me that if you do a good job convincing her, she'll might
explain to her friends why you have to wait, and so on. Educate them
while they are young. <g>

(I do understand why you are frustrated, though.)
