Hello All - (& Myra!)

This may be a twist on the "Advice to Parents seeking pups for their
children" topic. Last Monday, we had a family come to possibly be
matched to my 5 month old B&T girl. She was a singleton, thinks the
world revolves around her and is very rambunctious. I thought a family
of at least 4 boys would be suitable for her! So a very nice family
came and brought 3 of their 4 children. The smallest was a 1 year old
who the father held the entire time (which was fine), a nice 5 year old
boy and a 9 year old girl who the mother told me on the phone was the
local dog walker and pet sitter for their neighborhood. Sounds pretty
good? The dogs hated them. Ok, maybe not hate, but they were very
reluctant to approach any of them. Not like my dogs. My husband kept
saying things like "Look at Abey Rose, she likes everyone but she
doesn't even want to say hello." and "look at that one" and so on. I
finally told him to be quiet and we'd discuss it later. The 9 year old
girl was very bossy and started "barking" commands at them like "sit"
and "down" and my dogs were looking at her like "you gotta be kidding!"

Lesson: Pay attention to the dogs. I tend to like everyone and
certainly would have considered this family suitable. My husband told
me he took a vote and the dogs voted 6 to 2 against. The dogs know
best. I was humbled.
