Hi, Patti,
See my post to Susan.....I always write back and try to help folks. It
was the presentation of this "demand" for a puppy "NOW" that was so
off-putting. The hard thing is that parents don't seem to understand
that this isn't adorable, but rather suggests a spoiled, impulsive child
who will soon discard a puppy for the next new thing.
That doesn't mean that the child actually is like that, but rather that
the parents aren't seeing how she presented herself.
On the other hand, she may well be like that and with the blessings of
her parents. I would have to meet them and find out. The thing is that
when you have a chance to impress someone with your commitment to a new
companian and put across the wrong impression, the opportunity is gone
quickly as most of us get up to twenty emails a week looking for pets.
So, I did write back, but also thought that this forum might be a good
way to send a message to parents out there who may be looking for pets
for their family that this sort of impression isn't a great one.
Best,
Suze
