Thank you Brenda for your reply--I will try the potassium and calcium.  We recently started a good vitamin supplement.  Hopefully it will get better.  It seems to come with an overall fatigue that leaves him feeling pretty down.  Fortunately ibuprofen seems to help but he hates to take it all the time.  This is actually his second go round with gleevec, he was first diagnosed in 2000 and put on interferon because gleevec was not approved yet.  He had a great response to the interferon but it made him feel pretty sick so he was glad to start the gleevec.  He had gone from about 67% phillies before interferon to only about 2% when he started gleevec.  He felt great on the gleevec other than a few minor digestive problems.  After 2 years with clean bone marrow biopsy his onc took him off of gleevec last year about this time.  That was a mistake I guess because it came back very strong and when he had a bmb back in march, all the cells tested had the translocation.  We got a new onc and he put him back on gleevec but this time around he feels much worse than last time he took it.  I think it is because of where he is in the disease.  Last time he started gleevec, interferon had done alot of work and now I think the gleevec is having to do it.  I am hopeful that as he gets more close to a normal count as far as the translocation, he should feel better.  What do you think?  Thank you for responding, it is so wonderful to have this resource and somewhere to find other people are going through similar situations.  I hope you are doing well with your treatment.

Teresa,
Achy joints and bones seems to be a common side effect of the Gleevec.
I get stiff joints like in my knees if I sit too long, but once I get
up and walk around it goes away. I ocassionally get achy bones but it
is very mild and seems to be right around where I've had my bmbs.  I
only know to suggest getting plenty of potassium and calcium.  I hope
he more comfortable soon.
Take care,
Brenda
