This concept does not get any simpler. A SEA can be copied directly from PC
to MAC with no problems and the same with an SIT (now I'm getting
confused??) but any HQX or .bin go via TransMac. Again others will make more
sense of this than I.
With TransMac HQX can use the following settings: Auto, HQX, Data, Text,
Resource but not MacBinary
.BIN can use: MacBinary, Auto, Data, Text, Resource
but not HQX
The setting used can provide a different result. e.g. The HQX file when
using the Auto setting ended up as a SIT but when using the Data or text
setting it copied the file exactly? with the same extension and file size.
I downloaded a demo version of "Optimem" which initially is a gzipped file.
(I thought gz was a Unix/Linux extension??)
WinZip turns it into .hqx and TransMac then turns it into .sit which goes
straight across to the Mac Classic and Stuffit 4.
Simple eh? lol

Phil

Disk Copy 6 images can be compressed, that option is offered in preferences.
afaik the default preference setting is "read-only compressed".

If an Apple disk image is downloaded on PC, decoded, then unstuffed I
thought that would cause loss of an Apple specific file attribute ( a
fork?) that would then make it no longer an exact copy of what it's
supposed to be for writing to Mac formatted disk.
