Isn't Disk Copy 4 format compressed? I think so, because all Disk Copy images I've seen are smaller in size than the corresponding floppy... If it is, you can't use its images with any PC program, because in the PC you only can use *uncompressed* disk images. > Are you saying that "RawWrite (and simmilar software for the PC)" can't > decode .bin and/or .hqx? RawWrite is a *very* simple program that just takes a raw stream of data from a file and sends it to the disk drive. It doesn't take into account hardware details, and can only manage disk images that are a byte-by-byte image of the actual diskette (this is the main reason of the image file need to have the same number of bytes as the actual diskette). Thus, it can't handle any "special" file encoding or compression format (like ZIP, StuffIt, BinHex, MacBinary, etc.). On the other side, why would a PC-only utility support a Macintosh-specific format? Don't take me wrong - I'm just saying that Macintosh compatibility was not in the mind of the RawWrite's programmers. Probably, they never thought about using it to read or write Macintosh disk images. The only reason for RawWrite to work with Macintosh disk images is because Apple's engineers have managed to make Apple's 1.44 Mb floppy format fully compatible with PC's ones.
