I've studied these pages... Some of the problems mentioned are somewhat similar, but different enough to make me think my problem is something else. The two most similar are described as "thin vertical line", whereas these are BARS almost two inches wide, and there are three of them on screen at once. Also, they tend to describe video problems as casuses of these lines. I get the feeling this is *NOT* a video problem, but rather a different hardware problem manifested on screen by these vertical bars. I believe if it were simply a video problem, the Mac would continue with boot up as normal, and I would hear the startup bong. Also, when it DID boot at all, I had it running for days with no idication of any video trouble. I will test the RAM idea tomorrow and post results. If no-go, I will attempt the dishwasher routine.
