Meal Master is one of the first electronic formats for recipes. There's a DOS program called Meal Master that did a lot of things and was quite innovative, and it's now freeware. For one thing the author had things in it specifically for the blind. But the real value of the format is that it's an extremely common option for importing into more current recipe management programs, so it's a handy base format to work in. The things I post here are most often in that format, and I include a legend at the end to explain the abbreviations I use. But if you have a speech synthesizer on your computer and are comfortable with DOS based programs it's a powerful tool for managing your recipes. It'll scale recipes, create shopping lists, allow you to search by ingredient or category, all the standard stuff modern programs do today, but without the accessibility issues. I wish someone would do a version of it for more modern operating systems.
