Salt and pepper is absolutely wonderful. A lot depends on the cut of meat you purchased. I like to use a little steak sauce thing called either Allegra or allegro, I forget which. I put the steak in a plastic bag a couple of hours before cooking with the marinade or steak sauce or whatever you call it. It's great
