We get water from condensation in our fuel. It is drained out as
part of every pre-flight. The Ercoupe has three drainage points =
under each wing on the inside (lowest) edge of the tank, and at the
"gascolator," the lowest part of the system before gas goes into
the carb.
And we see some minor contamination from time to time. I had a
real bad looking gas sample right after the last annual - when 29H
was down so long. Reminds me, I'd better take a squint the next
time I am by the hangar.
I recommend that you get a clear tube for checking the gas. I
have had one since I started flying. It is a better practice to
catch the fuel sample and examine it rather than just drining some
onto the ramp and hoping that that takes the water out.
Water is bad for two reasons (at least) = it does not burn, and
it will freeze blocking that that will burn...
