Nestor, what I think we need is a lot less unsubstantiated assertion and a lot
more concrete argument.
For the record, I have no desire to see Jared Israel or anyone else baited on
this list.
This is the CrashList, and by definition it is about contemporary,
conjunctural issues. Historical analysis should be exactly that, and should be
arguably relevant to the List mission; it should not be a chance for anyone to
start posturing or repeating sectarian headlines in lieu of reasoned argument.
Any suggestions about how concretely to proceed will be warmly welcomed.
Flaming won't be. If anyone is nursing a sense of grievance, please write me
offlist about it.
