No cooking, please. This will just lead to players expecting to find
the book randomly or getting it as a gift from Sif or Xom.

If this is such a problem, why don't you directly add an invocation to
butcher corpses? A bit unthematic, I know. Then again, is it so bad to
make Ash more useful for blade users than users of unarmed combat or
blunt weapons? Once implicit butchering is implemented (on the
schedule for 0.9), Ash could simply make an exception for butchering
with bound hands (which would get rid of one of the biggest drawbacks
of cursed weapons, of course); implementing it earlier just for Ash
would defeat the purpose of delaying.
