Once upon a time is dead and gone. I also had incredibly popular servers
once upon a time, with enough donations to pay for the server *and* buy
things for the community (eg games for giveaways). It's not like that
anymore around here.

I still run servers, and I pay for them with my own money, but there is not
the same strong community built around vanilla servers as there used to be
in America.

Hosting servers as a clan or community never has been about raising or
earning money. These are hobby projects and you should treat them as such.

Besides having paid for the game, VALVe owes you nothing in terms of server
software and support.

And it’s quite simple. If these infectious ads wouldn’t be in the MOTD and
people didn’t resort to trying to “sell off” items that should be unlocked,
there shouldn’t be a problem. No donations, no servers, no games to play
for the people. They’ll donate if that is the case – they’ve always have.

The communities started to do everything to grab money in dirty ways. Since
then VALVe’s own servers started showing up, and you know the rest of the
story.

Anyway, it’s all history, it’s not going to change and the ‘good old days’
ain’t never returning and VALVe isn’t going to listen to the outcries.
That’s also why you don’t find any CS:GO servers anymore with us, as we
more or less gave up with SRCDS based games.

So in summary – give it up, save yourself from a lot of frustration and
headaches. Accept the situation for what it is. Find a way to deal with it,
or don’t. It isn’t ever going to change back into anything workable.

Location is a huge factor. I can tell by your website you're based in
Europe (but I couldn't find your csgo servers?), which has a much different
cago community than America. There's a much greater emphasis on competitive
play in Europe and vanilla servers are more accepted, whereas in America
things are a lot more casual. It's very difficult to get donations in
America if you're not providing something like skin plugins, and nobody
cares enough about any community to purchase a reserved slot. That's why
almost all American servers run ads or are simply paid out of pocket by the
owner. Things that work in one market don't always work in other markets,
and it's a huge mistake to generalize as if they do.

That money grabbing attitude is something from the last 5-10 years.

Donations never have been an issue for any of the communities I've dealt
with. A simple reserved-slot reward is what users receive on donating. It's
simple economics - create something people *want* and you shall have no
problem surviving. If you create half-assed shit whining about not being
able to make money, your servers deserve to die a painful death.

I already mentioned VALVe has no interest in us anymore. They've achieved
their wealth. People hosting gamingcommunities are none of their interest
anymore.

Complaining about any of these situations is not going to help. It hasn't
for the past years, and it surely won't help now. They simply don't give a
flying fuck.

You are a moron if you think that people want to pay for something that
they can get for free, I could apply the same logic to valves decision, if
people want to buy skins they will buy them why block the plugins?

And those servers who continue running these plugins are UNIQUE and they
exist because players are paying for it, so it is quite obvious what
players actually want...

2017-06-14 15:30 GMT+02:00 Saint K. <[email protected]>:

That's where the communities went wrong.

You don't host servers to earn money with. You put down a proper concept
and people will donate out of free will. That's how you pay for your
servers.

If your concept fails, no donations, you have no reason to exist.

Money grabbing idiots like you screwed shit up.

The problem is that they don't realize we have to pay server bills too...

Why the heck there is such a thing as forbidden plugins, that is like
making a mod for skyrim, and skyrim devs would ban players for using it.
This is just plain stupid.

What is your point? They already get banned every 2 days….

Yes, they get new tokens every banwave… Valve doesn’t care, since they’ll
just earn more $$$$$$$$$$$ when they ban the servers.

Since Valve doesn’t care about the community at all, people will always use
forbidden plugins. Maybe you just should do the same… ;-)

Valve should create a place to report cheating servers, on website. We
don’t need to join their server to report in game.

As we can Find they listing here:
http://www.gametracker.com/search/csgo/?query=%21ws+%21knife

Those servers with !knife !gloves !ws plugins.

Thanks and best regards!
