I recently purchased a sound moderator for my 10/22 for vermin control.
Problem is that the noise is cut down, but not exactly unnoticeable.
There is still a distinctive 'crack' upon firing. Bugs + associates,
having very sensitive hearing then exercise their prompt right to vote
with a flurry of furry feet. Does anyone out there know what the bore
size through the baffles should be for .22" as I feel I may have been
sold the wrong calibre.
I am definitely using sub-sonics.

There is a guy at my club who has the exact same problem. We
chronoed his ammo at it turned out to be not as subsonic as he thought
although it said so on the box.
Try running some of the ammo over a chronograph.
