Because if you use IMAP and Outlook express, and send from one machine, the
mail won't appear in the "sent" folder on another machine.

Maybe I'm a weirdo or something, but I send myself email all the time.  For
example, I talk to someone while on one computer away from home, and they
give me their phone number, which I will need at home.  So, I just email it
to myself instead of finding a piece of paper and pencil, then sticking the
paper in my pocket where it will get lost.  When I get home, it's there
waiting for me.
