Since the former directly conflicts with a long standing Apache policy and the
latter does not (and could easily be handling by coordinating with fundraising)
my opinion is the exact opposite. Much easier, much less controversial, no
worry about “optics” and, most importantly, no disregarding a 20+ policy for no
benefit compared to the latter and no damage (real or potential) to our
foundation and our products. I think the decision, and choice, is pretty
obvious.
